People who smoke cigarettes really never consider this. I have communicated with hundreds if not thousands of people, and this is clear. Smokers start off with a misconception of what they are attempting to do when they try to quit smoking. They of course need to know how tough the road is going to be. They need to know how to make the road easier to travel. But, they never imagine where they are actually trying to go. They think they will just be themselves in every way, and just happen to not be a smoker anymore. They think they can quit smoking any way they like and it is all the same. They think they can adjust the Coach Quit system of smoking cessation at their leisure. This is how people fail.

Now I do not know Lance Armstrong, but I know he is a success! I know that he knows how to win a bike race. Imagine for a moment all the bike racers that want his advice. It must be millions of people. Well, of that million how many would listen exactly to what he says and do it? How many would say, yeah Lance Armstrong, I get you…then proceed to rewrite every word he says? I bet this happens most of the time.

What is the most important thing to know to quit smoking? In the quit smoking world that is simple. You have to know that when you quit smoking, you are becoming a NON SMOKER! You are not a smoker that is just not smoking. This is really how most people play the game, and this is why they lose. In Lance Armstrong’s world of biking, you cannot be a loser that wins. It just will not accidentally happen. In the quit smoking game, you will not have a smokers mentality and happen to quit smoking. If this does happen, it is miraculous. What you must realize from day one is your job is to think like a non smoker! You are going to change. You are going to change how you think about smoking, smokers and cigarettes in general. If you do not make this change, at the end you will be a smoker that happens to not be smoking at this time. But, you are leaving a big door open for later, just in case, etc.

If you want to learn chess, learn to think like a chess Grandmaster. Trust me, they do not think like a regular chess player. If you want to win the Tour de France, you will need to think like a winner. Is there any doubt about this? If you are going to quit smoking realize that you are up against a formidable challenge. But with a good coach and good material and a good effort you are going to win. You are going to quit smoking. Achieve the goal of thinking like a non smoker and your battle is won.

Don Muller created Coach Quit out of his own very real need to quit smoking. Although he had tried to quit smoking before, unsuccessfully, he had a new motivation. He was about to become a father, and he had just recently realized that smoking around your kids can give them life long illnesses like asthma. He could not imagine what it would be like to bring a child into this world, only to make her live a life of illness. So, he set about trying to understand why he couldn't quit smoking even though he wanted to. So, he analyzed ever detail of what a quit smoking should be, and then put the parts of the puzzle together for himself. He tried it once, because he quit the first time. He had taken away the problems that made it difficult to quit. He has not lit a cigarette since 1992 and never had the desire or need. He attributes that, to the constant "saying no" to cigarettes in various ways that are included in the Coach Quit system. His Doctor asked him to share the system, and that is how Coach Quit came about.
